How long is the park open for each year?
Our holiday homes near the Lake District are open from the first weekend in March to early January, so you can enjoy Christmas and New Year here if you wish! Big events our guests might enjoy are showcased each month in our Blog.
Is the park graded by the tourist board?
Yes, Hawthorns, our caravan park near the Lake District, has been awarded the industry-topping Five Star Gold Award from VisitEngland and Quality in Tourism.
Is Hawthorns Park part of a larger group?
No, Hawthorns Caravan Park has been owned and managed by the Wright family for over 25 years.
Do you have tents or touring pitches or caravans for hire?
No, all caravan holiday homes in Lancashire are privately owned. Sub-letting is not allowed although you’re welcome to allow family members to use your caravan. This helps ensure that Hawthorns provides the peace and quiet you deserve at your home away from home.
Can I live in a holiday home on the park?
No, Hawthorns Caravan Park is a holiday park and not a residential park.
Can I visit the Hawthorns Caravan Park near the Lake District over the closed season?
Of course, you are very welcome to visit the park during office hours in the closed period.
What are the park fees and are there any other costs?
The fees for the 2022 season are £3,570 on the park and £4,175 on The Glade. This includes VAT, rates and grounds maintenance. The only other costs are insurance, electricity and gas. Here’s our buyers guide for more information.
Are pets allowed at Hawthorns Caravan Park?
Yes, well behaved pets are allowed, dependant on breed and are limited to two per caravan.
Is Hawthorns a family caravan park?
Hawthorns is geared towards adults; we do not have a playground and we do have several ponds. Grandchildren are most welcome though and the village playground is only two minutes away.
Can I park next to my holiday home?
Yes, there is space for one vehicle by each caravan with further parking areas available for visitors.
Do caravans have patios or decking areas to sit outside?
Yes, all our holiday homes in Lancashire have either a limestone patio or green composite decking. Check out our holiday homes for sale for more information on what each caravan has.
Do you have any facilities at Hawthorns Caravan Park in Lancashire?
Yes, we have a range of facilities at our caravan park near Cumbria. This includes a 9-hole putting green, butterfly garden, wild-flower meadow, a Lake District view point and a library stocked with around 1,000 books and plenty of local information and things to do and places to visit in the area. We also have free high speed wi-fi across the park.
Where are the nearest shops, supermarkets and restaurants?
There are quaint local shops in the villages of Nether Kellet and Over Kellet which are within easy walking distance and open every day. Carnforth has a large Tesco, Booths, and an Aldi, and is only a five-minute drive away.
Within fifteen minutes you could be in Lancaster or Morecambe which have numerous restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Also, when you join you get access to our ‘Where to Eat’ directory which has all the best local restaurants and their specialities – from fish and chips to Michelin starred eateries.
We’re also very close to a large number of regular Farmers’ Markets, including one as close as Nether Kellet.
Do you have caravan holiday homes for sale?

What if we find a holiday home elsewhere that we like and want to have it at Hawthorns Caravans Park?
We can supply all models from any manufacturer. To help keep us in sync with the environment we do stipulate that all holiday homes at Hawthorns are in an environmentally friendly green colour which blends in well with nature.
Do I need to make an appointment to view the park and the caravan holiday homes for sale at your caravan park near the Lake District?
Feel free to pop by anytime as we are open 9am-5pm every day. It’s advisable to call in advance so we can ensure someone will be available but it is not essential.
