A Place to Retreat to
As soon as we pulled in we thought this is the place we really want to be.
“We looked at various other sites, seaside sites and just decided they weren’t for us.
As soon as we pulled in we thought this is the place we really want to be.
The beautiful gardens and the way that the guys keep it, it’s such a lovely relaxing place. I always thought that the most important thing is to find the right site. Then we were lucky to get the right pitch on the right site.
Its location was great. It’s easy access to the lakes, to the Yorkshire Dales. Also, you’ve got the Fylde Coast, Morecambe Bay. It’s a very good location, close to the motorway, but far enough away so that it’s not disturbing you. Even at the height of the season, it’s never really busy here. It doesn’t feel busy. There are quite a few vans here, they seem to blend in very well to the surroundings. So that’s really why we chose Hawthorns.
If you’re looking to buy a holiday home, this is the place for a peaceful retreat.
It’s quiet, the wildlife is fantastic, the birdsong in the mornings is absolutely beautiful.
It’s a place to retreat to.”
– Graham, Owner at Hawthorns Park
It’s Our Happy Place
“The reason we chose Hawthorns was because it’s only owners, friends and family, who are allowed. They don’t have tourism, they don’t allow subletting, which was a major thing for us. Hawthorn’s wasn’t the first site we looked at. We did view several all over the place.
Basically, Hawthorn’s won hands down…
It’s just so peaceful and tranquil
It’s just so peaceful and tranquil. We love it and from the first day you arrive – you just connect with the nature wildlife you can hear the songbirds, the gardens are so beautiful, mature trees, ponds, the water features around the park and you can tell that Hawthorn’s take pride in the park.
It’s maintained to a very high standard and it’s just nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life coming here just chilling out and relaxing. But also, location wise, you can’t beat it, we’ve got all the amenities, supermarkets, shops, play areas, you name it – we’ve got it within a mile and a half distance of the site.
it’s just somewhere where we want to be all the time
Plus, there’s also lovely places to visit. The lakes are only down the road. Yorkshire Dales. We’re such lucky to be so near them. It’s absolutely incredible.
It’s our happy place. It’s a place we love. Our children love coming here. The grandchildren love it. They like playing pitch and putt, going to see the birds in the aviary.
And it’s just somewhere where we want to be all the time. We just really enjoy every time we come, we don’t want to leave – and we won’t be anywhere else.
You just need to come and see for yourself, and I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
It Was Noticeable How Different It Was
“I think when we first came to Hawthorns, it was noticeable how different it was to all the other sides we’d been looking at. There were no regimented lines of caravans.
But I think the most noticeable difference... was when we started to go around the site because it was laid out. It wasn’t just manicured at the entrance. The whole of the site was manicured and well kept. And it was a series of winding roads with the caravans laid out around it. It was a park and the caravans were set within a park with trees and the bushes…
The whole of the site was manicured and well kept
So quiet and peaceful – it immediately struck us that way. And we thought, it’s peaceful, it’s serene – the things that we were interested in – and its definitely got an air of calmness about it. And the more we went round it, the more we felt this would suit us.
You’ve also got the Avery – I love the Avery and the ducks on the ponds.
So, in fact, we felt that the whole setting was really like a park. We didn’t feel we were on a caravan site.
We almost spend more time here than we do at home now.
The ambience was great. The other thing that struck us is when you looked around, you could have been miles from anywhere. But in reality, it was very convenient. Only a few miles off the Junction 35 with the M6. Carnforth provided everything we required. And the more we thought about it, the more it ticked all the boxes.
And hence, in fact, many love purchasing a property here. And we love it. The views are great.
We almost spend more time here than we do at home now.”
Bird-Watching, Flowers and Butterflies – It’s Perfect for Us
“We’ve been on Hawthorns site now for five years.
we like to go bird watching and flowers and butterflies, so it’s perfect for us.
It’s a lovely site, very quiet. The gardens are very well manicured by a gardener called David and his friend. And we can walk around the site and enjoy the changes over the seasons. In the area, there are some lovely places to visit. And we like to go bird watching and flowers and butterflies, so it’s perfect for us. In fact, the area is really well centred. – Janet says to go bird watching in Silverdale.
We’re near to the Bowland Fells, The Yorkshire Dales, South Lakeland and Silverdale which is our favourite place – there’s lots of wild orchids growing, ospreys nesting and we love to go and watch the chicks as they develop. It really is the perfect site for us.

In the area there’s some lovely eating places – and we like to go to Arnside, to a little cafe there called Sandpiper. Michael likes to walk on the pier with an ice cream afterwards while I go into the second hand shop. We’ve also been to Flumgars for lunch – they do some really good food. There’s a bread shop and a farm shop as well so it’s worth going to have a look.
This is a perfect site for us we absolutely love it”.
Everything We Could Have Wished For
“Having now had the pleasure of owning a holiday home on Hawthorns Park for 7 months it is everything that we could have wished for, right from the moment we drove into Hawthorns Park the peace and tranquillity in this Five Star Park hit us. Mark the Park Manager gave us his expertise and excellent service and his staff are very friendly and helpful.
The location of Hawthorns Park could not be better, just a short drive to the Lakes and Kirkby Lonsdale with its quaint shops and eateries just 15 minutes down the road, and there is a bus service that stops outside the park taking you to Lancaster. We also enjoy the countryside walks accessible from outside the park through woods and fields to the local villages of Nether Kellet and Over Kellet where you can have a nice meal and a drink at the Eagles Head pub.
We enjoy every minute of our time on Hawthorns Park, it’s so beautiful and tranquil which is a credit to owners Deryck, Monika and Ashley and we look forward to many happy years on Hawthorns Park.”

One of the Most Attractive Places To Own a Holiday Home
“We bought our first holiday home at the Hawthorns in 1987 and this will be our 30th year on site.
Since Mr & Mrs Wright bought the Hawthorns, they have progressively developed the site to accommodate additional homes together with outstanding and sympathetic landscaping that has made the park one of the most attractive places to own a holiday home.
We have never tired from our choice of location which is central for the Lake District, Trough of Bowland and areas around Lancaster and Morecambe where we can enjoy leisure activities of walking and cycling. The site is quiet and respected by all residents who appreciate a relaxing atmosphere created by its idyllic setting together with well-maintained gardens and open spaces.
The high standards of the site are ever improving and now include areas dedicated to wildlife with ponds, log piles and nesting areas encouraging a variety of animals that have also made the park their home. We are now enjoying the site as mature people in a mature park and sharing it with our grandchildren who all look forward to their visits with walks around the park to discover favourite animal statues or venturing into neighbouring woodland to burn off some energy.”
– Brian and Lynn, Plot 9 Hawthorns Park
It Was Love At First Sight
“We first came to Hawthorns Park in 1990, looking for a bolt-hole to escape for weekends and holidays away from our busy life in road haulage.
It was love at first sight. We bought a holiday caravan there and then. One of the best things we ever did.
Now in our 28th season, we fight tooth and nail to make the journey up the M6 and seldom miss a weekend. Hawthorns is a beautiful site, the area is stunning. There are some amazing places to visit and we still have things on our to-do list after all these years!”
– Martin and Gail, Plot 37 Hawthorns Park
Just To Walk Around The Park Is A Joy
“With a view to ‘retiring’ from a lifetime spent touring in a succession of tents, caravans and motor caravans, for a period of roughly two years we looked at static caravans and sites. We found that we always returned to Hawthorns Park as the caravan park of our choice.
It had everything we wanted.
The gardens themselves were always beautiful, with a subtle combination of being well-kept and natural; the vans were not regimentally placed in the park, with most plots being quite individual; the owners were helpful and a delight to converse with – and so, for the last seven years, we have spent much of our leisure time living in this pleasurable environment. Hawthorns Park is also easily accessed from J35 of the M6.
Just to walk around the park is in itself a joy and the sea, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District is within easy reach.”
– Joan and Roy, Plot 50 Hawthorns Park

“On the first time viewing the Hawthorns Park loved it, the peace and quiet, the greenery, everything was perfect so much so we purchased a caravan that weekend!
We love it, come from home and leave all the stress there and just chill out. It’s a very well maintained park such a credit to the owners and their staff. The position could not be better, lots of different walks or if preferred catch the bus outside the park to Lancaster or Carnforth…”
