Specialist Interest: Golf, Fishing, Bird Watching and Horse Races in Lancashire and Cumbria

However you like to spend your holidays, you’ll probably find everything you want to do here at Hawthorns Caravan Park in Lancashire. If you’re just looking to get away and relax, the park is set up to be a place of peace and tranquility, with woodland walks, a local pub and all the amenities you need for a relaxed holiday. For further interests though, we can direct you to some great local sites to visit.

Bird watching

Ornithologists will have plenty to see at the Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, a large reed-bed area perfect for viewing wading birds. Even if you’re just an enthusiast or new to the hobby, the Leighton Moss team have plenty of experts who can lead you on guided walks as well as answer your questions and lend helpful advice. This is a great day out if you’re a budding bird watcher, expert ornithologist or just looking for an interesting walk among some local wildlife.

Golf holidays

If you fancy a spot of golf, then there are plenty of options for you. As well as the park’s own 9 hole putting greens, you’re sure to have a warm welcome at either Lancaster or Morecambe golf clubs.

Fishing

If you wanted to go fishing, the local Redwell Fisheries is only a 5 minute drive away. They provide some excellent lakes for a day of relaxed enjoyment, or you can fish along the Lancaster canal.

Horse racing

For race lovers there are two local race courses at Cartmel and Whittington. Whittington races are held at Easter and are situated in a great location in the lovely Lune valley.  As well as the famous races, Cartmel hosts special events throughout the year and is a great location for business or private functions.

Of course, whatever your specialist interest, just ask us and we’ll be happy to try and help you find what you’re looking for. There’s so much to do in the area, and it all starts from your caravan at Hawthorns.
