The Forest of Bowland has been recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty since 1964, and with over 500 listed buildings and monuments to discover there’s much to see and do. The majority of the 312 square mile rural landscape sits in Lancashire, with a small section in North Yorkshire. Travelling to The Forest of Bowland from Hawthorns Park is very convenient, with the nearest access point to the area just a 10 minute drive away. Hornby Castle

A 15 minute drive from Hawthorn’s Park, Hornby Castle is a private family home with beautiful gardens which are open to the public to enjoy.

Dunsop Bridge

Situated in the Borough of Ribble Valley, Dunsop Bridge is often referred to as the geographic centre of Great Britain. Due to its central location within The Forest of Bowland itself, Dunsop Bridge is a popular starting point for walkers to explore the surrounding area.

Bowland Wild Boar and Animal Park

A great day out for the family set in the heart of the Forest of Bowland. The 65 acre park has a wide variety of activities on offer, including hand feeding of animals, playground and hay barn, tractor and trailer rides and wildlife walks.
