Easter is a great time of year in The Lake District, not least for all the wonderful Easter egg hunts that take place around the county. There are lots of organised community events and those that are well-known for their annual Easter egg hunt.
We have listed a few of our favourites – Happy Easter!

Your adventure begins by canoe, a peaceful paddle across this short stretch of Derwent Water to the intriguing little island. Discover the reality of life on the island past and present, indoors and out. Enjoy the gardens, grounds and amazing views.
Under the expert eyes of our qualified canoe instructors, pick up a paddle and climb aboard a very stable rafted canoe. On reaching the island enjoy a 45 minute guided tour of Pocklington’s Georgian house and then explore the gardens and the rest of the island at your leisure.

- Sticklebarn and The Langdales near Ambleside, Cumbria
The old British tradition is coming to Sticklebarn over Easter – come and have a go at racing a pace egg to claim the winner’s prize.
Pace-Egging is an ancient Lancashire custom once widespread, and is still to be found in parts of the county today. Pace-Eggs are eggs specially decorated for a festival at Easter-time, and is a centuries old tradition.
The eggs are hard boiled and then decorated, and hundreds of children today compete to see whose egg can roll the furthest without cracking.
A warning to all… empty Pace-egg shells must be crushed for they are popular with Lancashire witches who use them as boats.
One race will begin at 12 noon and the second will begin at 3pm.
