There’s always an impressive winter calendar of events in Lancaster and The Lakes, near Hawthorns Park. There are fabulous Christmas markets and food fayres as well as festive themed events at some of the leading attractions in the area. Lancaster On Ice
27th November 2021 to 9th January 2022, various opening times.
Lancaster on Ice is one of the country’s most well-known seasonal ice-rinks. The historic location in Dalton Square, makes for a picturesque setting in the heart of Lancaster. In 2019 the attraction won the Lancashire Tourism Awards ‘Large Event Award’ and is considered one of the best ice-rinks in the UK & Europe. As well as gliding around the ice, visitors can browse the Christmas Market Stalls, enjoy refreshments in the Giant Tipi Bar, and take a ride on the giant Ferris Wheel. One of the must-visit Christmas events in Lancaster in 2021!

Kanteena Big Fat Xmas Markets
4th & 5th December and 11th & 12th December 2021, Kanteena, Brewery Lane, Lancaster.
Christmas in Lancaster wouldn’t be the same without Kanteena‘s Big Fat Xmas Markets, and this year promises to be one of the best yet. A great selection of local and independent businesses will be selling their unique and wonderful craft items and edible treats. Spread over the course of 2 weekends there is sure to be a fantastic variety and mixture of stall holders to choose from. Make the visit extra special and take the opportunity to visit Santa in his Grotto – the kids will love it!

Christmas Fair at Rydal Mount
11th & 12th December 2021, Rydal Mount, Ambleside.
Visit the former Lake District family home of William Wordsworth for the annual Christmas fair. Enjoy the festivities at this famous rustic setting with live music, mulled wine, mince pies, and craft workshops in the garden gazebos. Tickets are priced at £12 (£6 for children). This include access to the house and all of the exhibits. There will also be local trade stands with festive goods on sale for that perfect gift inspiration.

Cockermouth Christmas Taste Cumbria festival
11th & 12th December 2021, Main Street, Cockermouth.
Taste Cumbria Christmas festival takes place in Cockermouth over the weekend of 11th & 12th December. The event brings a festive atmosphere to the heart of the town with plenty of delicious locally produced food and drink, colourful gifts and crafts. The whole town comes to life with beautiful Christmas lights and fun-filled activities for the family including a festive fairground. As well as the packed producers market, the shops take the chance to shine with a fabulous selection of gifts, food and drink on offer.
Keswick Victorian Fayre
5th December, Market Place & Packhorse Court, Keswick.
The Keswick Victorian Fayre is back! Starting at 10am expect a full programme of entertainment in the Market Square and Packhorse Court. Start your Christmas shopping and support the charity stalls by purchasing their fine selection of homemade Christmas crafts and cakes. The charming nativity scene will bring delight to children. Complete with fun fair and the arrival of Father Christmas. Giving the event a unique twist is the Victorian costume worn by traders and encouraged to visitors who are invited to get involved.

Hawkshead Christmas Fair
4th & 5th December 2021, Hawkshead Village Centre.
The small village of Hawkshead will be full of festive cheer for the first weekend in December. The historic streets are brimming with indoor and outdoor markets with over 50 food and craft stands. There’s also a lantern parade, live music, and street performance making it ideal for all the family. Children can meet Santa in his grotto, while adults can sample local ales in village pubs for the mini beer festival.
Christmas at Brockhole
1st to 25th December 2021, Windermere.
The large grounds and lakeside gardens at Brockhole on Windermere make a wonderful setting for Christmas events. Throughout December there’s a superb variety of things to do to keep the whole family entertained. Shopping for gifts, Christmas tree shopping, Christmas lunch at the Gaddum, a festive afternoon tea, as well as creative workshops for adults.
Santa’s Best Ever Christmas at World of Beatrix Potter
A variety of dates and times available throughout December 2021.
Join Santa and friends for a brand new festive, musical, interactive adventure in 2021. This event at the brilliant World of Beatrix Potter is suitable for children aged 2-7 and their families. Each child receives a specially wrapped present from Santa for a memorable keepsake.
