Honister Slate Mine

Honister Slate Mine has played an integral role in the slate industry for over a century, extracting Westmorland green slate for use around the world. Today, the slate mine is one of the premier tourist attractions in the Lake District, providing an educational and exhilarating day out that the whole family will enjoy. Take a guided tour underground and listen to miners’ stories as special effects and mock explosions create a realistic environment.
